Malala’s girls

On Friday I had the pleasure of returning to Casey Elementary in Jackson to talk with second grade girls about girls in the developing world.  I shared the story of Malala, the 14 year old Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban because of her advocacy work surrounding girl’s access to education.  As I was telling these second grade girls about the courageous Malala, several of them began looking to the heavens, praying for her safety and recovery.   These eight year olds were moved to act and were empowered to make a difference by writing Malala letters of encouragement and support.  Most girls around the world face extreme danger when they choose to go to school, and the story of Malala’s shooting reminded the world of just that.  Here is a video of their responses.
